Elaeagnus is a tough, fast-growing evergreen shrub valued for its dense growth habit, attractive foliage, and exceptional adaptability in a wide range of landscapes. Its leaves are typically deep green with a distinctive silvery underside, giving the plant a soft, shimmering appearance in the wind.
In fall, many varieties produce small, highly fragrant creamy-white flowers that are easy to miss visually but noticeable for their sweet scent. These are often followed by small reddish or orange berries that attract birds and wildlife.
