Camellia sasanqua 'Shishi Gashira' is a compact, slow-growing evergreen shrub loved for its rose-pink double blooms that open in late fall and continue into winter, when little else in the garden is flowering. Its small, glossy dark green leaves look good all year, and its low, spreading habit makes it a great fit for foundation plantings, low hedges, borders and large containers. It typically reaches 3 to 4 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide over time. Plant in partial shade or morning sun in well-drained, slightly acidic soil, keep it evenly moist the first year, and mulch the roots. Hardy in USDA zones 7-10. Container grown in a 3-gallon pot and hand packed in central Louisiana.
